Your Questions, Answered

  • Midwives are medical professionals, much like a doctor though more natural birth minded. They can deliver babies in hospitals and oftentimes in the family's home or birth center. Birth doulas provide educational, emotional, and physical support during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. They can help establish breastfeeding but do not provide care such as dilation checks or delivering the baby. We help you remember your voice and your wishes. We do not ever make medical decisions for you.

  • Doulas are a valuable part of your birthing team especially in births with epidurals! I can help you stay as calm and comfortable as possible while your body works on bringing your baby into this world. Whether you feel it or not, your body is still very hard at work and needs to feel safe and loved. There are cases where the epidural doesn't take away all of the discomforts of birth, but you'll be prepared and supported. I will help you know your options. You'll know pain management techniques, the benefits vs risks of medicine, and be able to confidently advocate for yourself and baby, only receiving the care you consent to.

  • As soon as you want to! You can reach out to me the moment you see those 2 pink little lines or when your due date is fast approaching! Keep in mind that I only book so many moms per 4 weeks in order to make the need for a backup doula less likely.

  • While a doula cannot change your health circumstances, I am here to offer support. I also provide comfort during stressful challenges that a high-risk pregnancy can entail. I can offer additional education and resources to help you prepare for a possible NICU stay if your baby were to need it.

  • Only if that is what you decide.

I love to guide and educate your partner on how to best support and comfort you throughout labor, with massage and other comfort measures! I am also here to help support him! It is just as important for him to experience his child's birth with assurance, confidence, and the freedom to take care of his own needs while making sure your support doesn't falter.

  • Absolutely! Postpartum support is just as important as prenatal support. It can be such an overwhelming time. Unlike babies, many mothers receive limited postpartum care and checkups. I'm here to fill that gap and ensure you and baby are doing well. We can process your birth together and I can make sure you're getting the care you need. While I don't provide full postpartum doula services, I can provide wonderful resources or recommend some wonderful postpartum doulas if you require further support.
